Advocacy means the promotion of one’s ideas and aims. Another meaning is
‘speaking in someone or something’s favour’. A basic value of our organisation is the protection and enforcement
of human rights, and the conviction that these rights apply to every human being
regardless of their background. The battle against human trafficking at the moment often places the emphasis on the arrest of the perpetrators and protection from unwanted waves of migration. This can often be to the detriment of the group at risk and trafficked people’s rights. On the other hand, placing an emphasis on the enforcement of human rights can have a significant effect on attempts to prevent human trafficking and intervene. The infringement of human rights is one of the causes, as well as a result and main characteristic of human trafficking. It is for this reason that we believe, if a complex solution to the problem is to be found, a human-rights orientated approach is the right one. Our advocacy work comprises of:
